How has acupuncture improved your life?

Cody-East
Three years before my first acupuncture treatment, I suffered a broken ankle while training as a Mixed Martial Artist. I was hesitant to try acupuncture, because frankly, I hate needles. On the advice of my manager, I reluctantly decided to give it a shot because my injury was preventing me from training at 100% because I had been told I’d have to take pain killers or have surgery to fix my ankle. But I train with professional fighters here in Albuquerque and I’ve got to be ready to spar with world class athletes on any given day and I can’t perform at my best on pain killers. Surgery wasn’t an option for me since I had just turned pro as a fighter and I know taking the time off needed to heal after surgery could potentially set back my career. Ultimately, I decided to meet with Dr. Amy and she thought she could help me regain flexibility and power in my ankle. She also explained that acupuncture could also help with focus, concentration and help manage injuries from training. Originally I came in to be treated for my ankle, but now Dr. Amy also helps with general health and wellness like treating my allergies too. I consider acupuncture a weapon in my arsenal to minimize recovery time and keep my body in top shape. During training camps, I find that I really look forward my treatment in my day. It gives me time to relax and mentally prepare for my next fight.

What would you say to a friend or family member who was curious about Acupuncture?

I would refer other athletes to Dr. Amy because she’s good at what she does.

What has pleased you most in your course of treatment?

After several treatments, even my coaches noticed that I had more power and endurance when I train.   — Cody East, Professional MMA Fighter
